This paper covers the following topics:

• Section A: Listening and Speaking
  • Dialogue comprehension — understanding a conversation between Kibet and Frau Müller: greetings, wellbeing, time
  • Greeting expressions — matching German greetings (Guten Morgen, Guten Abend, Gute Nacht) to English equivalents and time of day
  • Oral reading — pronunciation and intonation of a passage about school
  • Oral interaction — responding to teacher’s questions about school
• Section B: Grammar and Vocabulary
  • Vocabulary — matching German words to English: animals, food, school items (Hund, Banane, Schultasche, Ananas, Gemüse)
  • Articles and plural forms — nominative singular with definite/indefinite articles and plural (Tisch, Schule)
  • Modal verbs — können, müssen, wollen in context
  • Separable verbs — forming sentences with “aufstehen”
  • Cases — Akkusativ and Dativ article selection
  • Reading comprehension and written tasks based on German texts.
