2026 Grade 3 Rationalized Revised English Language Activities Lesson Plans – Term 3

The Lesson Plans are organized under the following themes, strands, and substrands:

• Theme: Playtime and Sports (Weeks 1–2)
  • Vocabulary, picture predictions, and reading connected texts (“The Kasarani Stadium” and “Lewa Marathon”)
  • Developing concept maps for text comprehension
  • Grammar & Language Structures: Comparative and superlative adjectives from substitution tables
  • Phonics & Handwriting: Words with short closed vowels and doubled consonants (forgetting, running, chatter); descriptive text revision and handwriting neatness
  • Weekly revision and assessment exercises
• Theme: Food We Eat and Diseases (Weeks 3–4)
  • Vocabulary, predictions, and reading connected passages (“Mburu and Wanja fall sick”, “The wax bees”, and “Mosquitoes”)
  • Grammar & Language Structures: Conjunctions (and, but, because) for joining sentences
  • Skills: Narrative text drafting, peer revision checklists, spelling dictations, and active listening postures
  • Weekly revision and assessment exercises
• Theme: Saving (Weeks 5–6)
  • Vocabulary, picture walks, and reading connected stories (“Rainwater” and financial saving passages)
  • Grammar & Language Structures: Constructing ‘How’ questions and ‘Why’ questions from substitution tables
  • Phonics & Guided Writing: Syllable chunking (dust-bin, wo-men), reciting poems with rhythm, and guided biography drafting and editing
