2025 Grade 9 English Paper 1 End of Term 2 Exam with Marking Scheme

This assessment paper 2  is broken down as follows:

• Section A: Composition (15 Marks)
  • Task 1 requires the candidate to write a composition .
• Section B: Literary Analysis (35 Marks)
  • Task 2: Oral Literature (10 marks)
  • Task 3: Poetry (5 marks)
  • Task 4: Drama (10 marks)
  • Task 5: Novella (10 marks)

The assessment paper 1  assesses the following key areas:

• Reading Comprehension: Candidates are tested on their understanding of several texts, including a passage about the sun , a narrative about a boy named Kofi and an injured bird , a dialogue between a teacher and a student , and a short descriptive text about the activities of different children.
• Language Use and Grammar: This section includes a cloze test based on a passage about music , as well as questions on punctuation, sentence transformation, sentence combination, and correct use of parts of speech.
• Oral Skills: This is tested through a situational dialogue where students must choose the best responses to complete a telephone conversation and select appropriate responses for specific social situations.
• Vocabulary: Questions require candidates to choose the alternative that means the same as an underlined word or phrase.
