• STRAND: NUMBERS
  • Sub-Strand: Number concept, Place Value, and Reading Numbers
    • Identifying and writing the position of objects from 1st to 20th.
    • Using a place value chart and an abacus to represent numbers.
    • Reading and writing numbers up to 2026 in symbols and words.
    • Counting forward and backward in fives.
  • Sub-Strand: Fractions
    • Identifying a half (½), a quarter (¼), and an eighth (⅛) as parts of a whole using paper folding and real objects.
  • Sub-Strand: Operations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division)
    • Adding up to 3-digit numbers, including problems with single regrouping.
    • Subtracting up to 3-digit numbers, including problems with single regrouping.
    • Identifying missing numbers in addition and subtraction patterns.
    • Understanding multiplication as repeated addition and multiplying single-digit numbers.
    • Understanding division as repeated subtraction and dividing a 2-digit number by a single-digit number without a remainder.
• STRAND: MEASUREMENT
  • Sub-Strand: Length, Mass, and Capacity
    • Measuring, estimating, adding, and subtracting length in metres (m), mass in kilograms (kg), and capacity in litres (l).
  • Sub-Strand: Time
    • Reading and telling time using a clock face, specifically using the terms “past” and “to” the hour.
  • Sub-Strand: Money
    • Identifying Kenyan currency notes up to 2026 shillings.
    • Practicing subtraction of money and calculating balance through role-playing shop scenarios.
• STRAND: GEOMETRY
  • Sub-Strand: Position and direction
    • Identifying right and left and following simple directional commands.
  • Sub-Strand: Shapes
    • Identifying basic shapes (rectangles, circles, squares) within combined shapes and using them to create models.
• STRAND: ASSESSMENT
  • Sub-Strand: End of Term 3 Assessment
    • Completing a formal assessment covering all the topics taught during the term.
